Moriarty - Gee Whiz But This Is A Lonesome Town

Moriarty is for sure a "American folk" or country band with touches of blues or jazz so whats about it that makes an alternative music lover adore it? As for me its the indie soul that is flowing in their songs. The experimental elements in their songs makes you think that its recorded one night by a traveler hanging out out side with some farm workers beside fire right under the shining stars.
I must confess that some of their songs are more alternative than country or folk for example the divine "Cottonflower" or its fabulous intro "(...)" but it shows that we are dealing with a "Multi-" Album. Its Multi-genre, Multi-culture and even the band itself is multi-nationality.
The lyrics and melodies are magical. They hang you in between of very different worlds, very different times. From old western towns to modern populated cities, From United states deserts to rain washed streets of Europe.
The harmonica solos are something to remember, something that you know you wont hear anything like them for a long time. The "Jimmy" 's music video is decent same as the album cover as you see.
I have nothing else to add except bon voyage. I hope it would be a travel full of pleasure listening to this as it was for me.
